Madikeri Fort: Initially this fort was built as a mud fort by Mudduraja in the last quarter of the 17th century and he also setup a palace inside the fort. Later on Tipu Sultan rebuilt the fort in granite and named it as Jaffarabad. This fort has witnessed several battles and in 1790, Doddavira Rajendra took over the fort. Nalknad Aramane Palace: This palace is situated at Yavakapadi in Nalknad area. Doddavirajendra, a Haleri ruler constructed this palace after escaping from Tipu Sultan’s troops. This palace in Coorg is extremely famous for its intricate carvings and beautiful paintings. This palace was built between the years of 1792 and 1794 and it now belongs to the Archeological Department. It is worth visiting this palace because of its architectural style and the paintings and nearby to the palace, one can also find the highest peak of Kodagu called Thadiyandamole.
